Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide Odidiomo, member representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has reaffirmed his resolve to pursue legal action over what he described as a smear campaign against him

Accord Party chieftain Oriyomi Hamzat during a live broadcast on Facebook via Oriyomi Hamzat Live.

The lawmaker made this known during a visit to the Molete area of Ibadan to assess the damage caused

the recent violence, sympathise with affected traders and families, and provide immediate assistance to victims.

Addressing traders operating under the Molete Bridge, Odidiomo condemned the violence, describing it as a threat to public safety and the rule of law. He stressed that Oyo State is a society governed

law and not a place where violence and lawlessness should be tolerated.

The federal lawmaker maintained that the 72-hour ultimatum he issued to those he accused of spreading false and defamatory statements remained in force. He said he expected the alleged instigators to retract their statements, remove the disputed videos from online platforms and publish an unreserved public apology in national newspapers, warning that failure to comply would lead to legal action.

According to him, he would not allow political disagreements to damage his reputation, insisting that political activities must be conducted within the confines of the law.

During his assessment of the affected area, Odidiomo disclosed that six traders whose businesses suffered severe losses had been identified. He promised to provide compensation for damaged goods, destroyed vehicles and other assets lost during the incident.

He also pledged to present a brand-new motorcycle to a commercial motorcyclist who was reportedly assaulted during the attack and whose motorcycle was allegedly taken away.

Odidiomo assured the affected trading community that he would continue to support victims and work towards ensuring their safety and welfare.

Odidiomo Visits Adedibu Family

As part of his visit, the lawmaker also paid a solidarity visit to the family of the late Chief Lamidi Adedibu, whose household and supporters were reportedly affected

Odidiomo further disclosed that several victims sustained serious injuries and were receiving treatment at various medical facilities across Ibadan. He also expressed sadness over the reported loss of lives, extending his condolences to the families of those who died during the violence.

To ease the burden on affected families, he pledged to personally settle the medical bills of all victims hospitalised as a result of the incident, assuring them that financial constraints would not prevent them from receiving medical attention.

Calls for Investigation, Justice

Reaffirming his commitment to the welfare and security of his constituents, Odidiomo called on relevant security agencies to conduct a thorough and speedy investigation into the incident and ensure that anyone found responsible, including alleged sponsors, is brought to justice.

He urged residents of Ibadan North-West, Ibadan South-West and the wider Oyo South Senatorial District to remain calm, peaceful and law-abiding.

The lawmaker, who is also the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) senatorial candidate for Oyo South in the 2027 general elections, stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence and respect for the rule of law.

He maintained that political differences should not result in violence, destruction of property or threats to the lives and livelihoods of residents.

The visit formed part of his response to the incident, with promises of relief for affected traders, medical assistance for injured victims and support for families impacted
