Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide Odidiomo, the member representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has fulfilled his promise to provide immediate relief to victims of the recent violent unrest at the Molete market in Ibadan, Oyo State, through cash support to affected traders.
The intervention, aimed at cushioning the financial losses suffered
victims and helping them rebuild their livelihoods, followed an earlier visit
the lawmaker to the affected area, where he assessed the extent of the damage and sympathised with those affected.
In a press statement made available to journalists in Ibadan
his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Tolu Mustapha, the federal lawmaker reiterated that the gesture reflects his commitment to protecting the lives, property and economic wellbeing of his constituents.

Mustapha explained that the Molete axis falls within Odidiomo’s constituency, making it necessary for the lawmaker to intervene and provide support to hardworking traders whose goods and business assets were reportedly looted or destroyed
hoodlums during the incident.
According to the statement, preliminary investigations identified two major categories of victims: traders operating under the Molete flyover bridge whose goods were carted away, and commercial transport operators as well as private motorists whose vehicles and motorcycles were reportedly damaged or stolen.

Of the nine traders identified as having suffered significant losses, six were physically present to receive their emergency financial assistance, while the remaining three were unable to attend because they were still receiving medical treatment for injuries sustained during the violence.
The statement added that the financial entitlements of the three absent victims had been safely set aside and would be delivered directly to them as they continue their recovery, ensuring that all identified victims receive the promised assistance.
It would be recalled that the intervention followed an earlier on-the-spot assessment and sympathy visit
Odidiomo to the Molete under-bridge market, where he condemned the violence and described the attack as a threat to public peace and the economic security of residents.
During the visit, the lawmaker, who is also the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District in the 2027 general election, pledged to compensate victims for their losses, provide a brand-new motorcycle to an assaulted commercial rider and cover the medical bills of victims hospitalised in various health facilities across Ibadan.
By making the cash disbursements, Odidiomo has taken a further step towards fulfilling his commitment to supporting those affected
the incident and helping them recover from their losses.
Reaffirming his commitment to responsive and people-oriented representation, the lawmaker assured traders and residents across Oyo South Senatorial District that his office would continue to prioritise security, social justice and economic recovery.
He also called on security agencies to expedite investigations into the Molete attack, arrest those responsible and prosecute both the perpetrators and their alleged sponsors.
Odidiomo further urged residents across Oyo South Senatorial District to remain law-abiding and continue their daily activities without fear of intimidation or harassment, while expressing his commitment to the protection and welfare of the people.
