The South-South geopolitical zone has reportedly endorsed the presidential ambition of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) candidate, Engr. Seyi Makinde, ahead of the 2027 general elections, in what signals growing momentum for the party’s presidential campaign.

Makinde gave the assurance that he was well-positioned to lead Nigeria in 2027 during a town hall meeting held on Tuesday at Ibom Hall in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.

The meeting, the fourth in the campaign series, attracted party candidates and supporters from across the South-South region.

The APM presidential candidate received a colourful welcome from Akwa Ibom cultural dancers before addressing the enthusiastic audience at the event.

Ibom Hall was filled with party stakeholders and candidates, including the vice-presidential candidate, senatorial candidates, House of Representatives candidates and candidates contesting seats in the various State Houses of Assembly across the zone.

Addressing the gathering, Makinde expressed confidence in his readiness to assume Nigeria’s highest political office, assuring supporters of his commitment to providing purposeful leadership if elected president in 2027.

Earlier, the presidential candidate held a stakeholders’ meeting with APM candidates in the state capital. The meeting focused on developing strategies to strengthen the party’s electoral chances in the South-South region and across the country.

The discussions also provided an opportunity for party leaders and candidates to deliberate on the way forward as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.

Among the dignitaries accompanying Makinde was the party’s leader and Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, whose presence underscored the party’s efforts to mobilise support for its presidential ticket.

The Uyo engagement forms part of the APM’s broader consultations and mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
