The Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation (MDPCO) has congratulated the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) presidential candidate, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on his conferment with the prestigious Christian Icon Award
the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
The organisation described the recognition as significant, noting that it was presented during CAN’s Golden Jubilee celebration.
In a statement issued on Saturday and signed
its Director of Strategy and Communication, Richard Ihediwa, the campaign organisation said the award recognises leaders who demonstrate excellence, integrity, commitment to nation-building, and dedication to the values of faith and service in public life.
According to the statement, Makinde’s recognition reflects his record of public service as governor of Oyo State, particularly in the areas of transparency, accountability, infrastructure development, and people-oriented policies.
The campaign organisation stated that the governor’s administration had pursued development across critical sectors of the state, adding that his leadership approach had continued to attract attention beyond Oyo State.
It also highlighted Makinde’s leadership style, describing him as humble, compassionate, open, and accessible. The organisation further cited polls attributed to the Nigeria Social Media Week Group (NSG), which it said named Makinde the “most beloved” and “most admired” governor in Nigeria in 2023 and 2024.
The statement added that the governor’s proposed Reset Nigeria Agenda would focus on national renewal, transparency and accountability in government, an efficient public service, increased productivity for economic prosperity, and a strengthened security system.
According to the MDPCO, these policy priorities form a central part of its campaign message ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The organisation also expressed appreciation to Nigerians from different backgrounds for their support and solidarity, urging them to remain engaged in the political process as preparations for the election continue.
It said the campaign would continue to promote its vision of a government focused on accountability, responsiveness, and purposeful leadership under the proposed Makinde-Daura presidency.
