Ogbomoso, Oyo State: The LAUTECH Campus Captains of the Omituntun Students’ Army have expressed support for Governor Seyi Makinde’s bid to Reset Nigeria, while also backing Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi and Engr. Open Salawu ahead of the 2027 elections.

The Campus Captains said their position was informed

what they described as the improvement in academic stability at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in recent years.

According to the group, the present generation of students may not have experienced some of the difficult periods that previously affected the university, but many have heard from former students about years of prolonged strikes, disrupted academic calendars and uncertainty over the completion of academic programmes.

They noted that the relative stability currently being experienced at LAUTECH has allowed students to concentrate more fully on their studies and plan their academic programmes with greater certainty.

The Campus Captains attributed the change to the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, particularly its approach to the education sector, and said the experience at LAUTECH had provided an opportunity to consider what similar leadership could mean for tertiary education across the country.

They said students should be able to pursue their education without having their academic programmes repeatedly interrupted

prolonged industrial actions and other disruptions.

The group further argued that the experience at LAUTECH should not only be viewed from the perspective of the university but also as part of a broader conversation about the future of education in Nigeria.

While expressing support for Governor Makinde’s presidential ambition, the Campus Captains also called for continuity in Oyo State.

They said the stability experienced

students and the attention given to education should be sustained beyond the present administration, declaring their support for Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi as Governor of Oyo State and Engr. Open Salawu as Deputy Governor.

The group said its support for the duo was based on its desire to see continuity in policies affecting education, students and young people in the state.

On Governor Makinde’s presidential ambition, the Campus Captains said they believed that lessons from his administration in Oyo State could inform the national conversation on education and institutional development.

They urged LAUTECH students and other young people to pay attention to the history of the institution and the changes witnessed over the years when considering the direction they want for the future.

The group maintained that the stability students currently enjoy should be protected and that education should remain a major priority in both state and national development.

The LAUTECH Campus Captains reaffirmed their alignment with the Omituntun 3.0 agenda and their support for Governor Seyi Makinde, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi and Engr. Open Salawu ahead of the 2027 political process.
