When the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, came to Oyo State for an on-the-spot assessment of the Local Government Service Commission, it did not just hear about reforms. It saw them firsthand.
The NIPSS delegation examined the Commission’s administrative structures, digital processes, workforce development programmes and ongoing reforms under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde and the Chairman of the Commission, Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole (Wolekanle).
What the delegation saw attracted commendation.
Prof. I.D. Choji, mni, who led the delegation, noted that some of the things being done in Oyo State stood out compared with what obtains in other states. He particularly described the structures at the Local Government House as massive and hardly seen elsewhere, adding that they were an indication that things were working in Oyo State.
For us at Wolekanle Youth Vanguard, this is significant. NIPSS came, looked closely at what is happening and recognised the difference.
It is another indication of what purposeful leadership and competent hands can achieve when given the opportunity to serve. Under Governor Seyi Makinde, institutions are being strengthened, workers are receiving attention, and administrative processes are being developed to improve service delivery.
The work being done at the Local Government Service Commission under Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole (Wolekanle) is one of the examples we are proud to identify with.
This is why we continue to ask: If NIPSS can come to Oyo and see what Makinde is doing, why should Nigeria not be given the opportunity to experience it?
Give Seyi Makinde the opportunity to Reset Nigeria.
