Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has allayed concerns over his contract situation, insisting there is “nothing to be concerned about” as talks over a new deal remain on the horizon.
Arteta’s current contract with Arsenal is set to expire at the end of the 2026/27 season. Speaking ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Brighton & Hove Albion, the Spanish coach said both parties remain aligned and will resolve the matter when the time is right.
“I think we are all very much aligned; whenever the time is right, we’ll get that done. There is nothing to be concerned about,” Arteta said.
The Arsenal boss was also asked whether the timing of his next contract could mirror his previous renewal, which was completed during an international break.
“I don’t know if the timing will be the same or different. I think we both have the same ambition and the same will, so whenever we have time we’ll get that resolved,” he added.
Arteta has been Arsenal manager since December 2019. During his tenure, he has guided the Gunners to the 2020 FA Cup and three consecutive Premier League runners-up finishes from 2022/23 to 2024/25.
He also highlighted Arsenal’s strategy of developing young players through its academy while recruiting promising talents from both within the country and abroad.
“We need to be one of the best in the world at recruiting in the country and abroad to maintain that level,” Arteta said.
His comments come as Arsenal prepare to face Brighton in their final Premier League fixture before the extended international break.
