Federal Government Opens Applications for Free Solar PV Installation Training

The Federal Government, in partnership with Siemens Energy and the German development agency GIZ, has opened applications for free Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Installation Training for professionals, technicians and young people interested in building careers in the renewable energy sector.

The training is being offered under the Siemens Energy Education and Development (SEED) project and supported

 

the Nigerian Energy Support Programme, a technical assistance initiative co-funded

 

the European Union and the German Government and implemented

 

GIZ.

According to a notice posted

 

FGN Power Company on its X handle on Wednesday, the programme will combine theoretical lessons with hands-on practical sessions, technical site visits and competency assessments.

Participants who successfully complete the programme will also receive COREN certification.

The training is open to applicants with practical experience, as well as those without formal education or previous practical experience.

Recent graduates with National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND) or undergraduate qualifications, young professionals in relevant fields and individuals passionate about renewable energy are also encouraged to apply.

However, applicants must be available to attend the three-week training physically.

How to Apply

Interested applicants are required to complete the online Expression of Interest form before 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026.

Applicants will be required to provide their:

• Full name
• Gender
• Phone number
• Email address
• Preferred training location

They will also indicate whether they are available to attend the three-week training in person.

Applicants will be required to provide details of their educational and professional background, including their highest level of education, employment status, work experience and sector of employment.

Those with formal educational backgrounds are expected to upload their most recent CV, degree certificates and other relevant qualifications or certificates.

The training will take place at centres in Lagos and Abeokuta, Ogun State, with each stream running for three weeks onsite.

The organisers stated that the training and certification will be provided free of charge, while meals will be provided on training days.

However, accommodation and transportation will not be provided during the training.
