The Allied People’s Movement (APM) has called for a national reset and rebirth as Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary, saying the country deserves a better future built on unity, peace, progress and development.
In a statement issued on October 1, 2026,
the National Chairman of the party, Dr. Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, the APM joined millions of Nigerians in celebrating the nation’s independence and paid tribute to the country’s founding fathers for securing independence from Britain on October 1, 1960.
The party acknowledged the resilience of Nigerians in the face of political, economic and social challenges over the past 66 years, noting that citizens have continued to demonstrate faith in the nation and its future.
According to the APM, Nigerians possess abundant human and natural resources but have continued to face significant hardship, insecurity and economic difficulties.
The party said citizens deserve the dividends of democracy and effective governance from leaders elected to serve them.
“APM is on a rescue mission to redirect the ship of the nation from its perilous course to the path of rectitude, progress, development and advancement,” the statement said.
The party maintained that a better Nigeria is possible through what it described as a Reset Nigeria agenda, calling for national rebirth and renewed commitment to the country’s development.
APM urged Nigerians to participate actively in the democratic process ahead of the 2027 general elections and support its candidates, including the Makinde/Daura presidential ticket, while also calling for credible, transparent and peaceful elections.
The party said the 2027 elections present an opportunity for Nigerians to choose leaders committed to putting the interests of the country first.
It further urged all stakeholders in the electoral process to respect the will of the people and uphold democratic principles.
“As we celebrate the nation’s 66th Independence, let us aspire for a new Nigeria built on unity, peace, progress and development,” the party said.
“Let us continue to stand together as one nation. Together, we will reset Nigeria to fulfil its manifest destiny of greatness and prosperity.”
Happy 66th Independence Anniversary!
Dr. Yusuf Mamman Dantalle
