Leaders of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) in Ibarapaland have challenged the member representing Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Remi Oseni, to produce documentary and photographic evidence to substantiate various projects and interventions reportedly attributed to him.

The demand was contained in a communique issued after a meeting of APM leaders across Ibarapaland, attended

political leaders, candidates and other stakeholders of the party.

The leaders said the documents would enable members of the public to independently verify the claims ahead of the 2027 general elections.

They specifically challenged Oseni to provide evidence of the nine road projects he reportedly listed as having been facilitated in the Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency.

According to the APM leaders, the evidence should include photographs, videos, project locations, project details, approvals and other relevant documents establishing the status of the projects.

They also demanded evidence of 11 additional road projects reportedly said to have received approval and been prepared for flag-off.

The leaders requested copies of the approvals, locations, funding arrangements and details of the implementing agencies for public scrutiny.

The demands followed a recent town hall meeting in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area, where Oseni reportedly highlighted several constituency projects and interventions as part of his record in public office.

APM Questions FERMA Committee Chairmanship

The APM leaders also questioned the impact of Oseni’s chairmanship of the House of Representatives Committee on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) on Oyo State.

They challenged him to provide details of federal road projects he had facilitated for the state since assuming the committee chairmanship.

They requested information on the locations, project values, contractors, implementation status and relevant government approvals for such projects.

The leaders also asked Oseni to state the number of Oyo State residents who had benefited from employment opportunities allegedly facilitated through FERMA during his tenure as committee chairman.

They said the information would enable residents to assess the practical impact of the position on Oyo State rather than relying solely on political assertions.

Leaders Seek Clarification on ‘Bench Warmers’ Comment

The APM leaders also challenged a statement reportedly attributed to Oseni that about 70 per cent of National Assembly members were chief executive officers, governors or federal ministers, while those without such status were “bench warmers.”

They demanded that the APC candidate provide the constitutional, statutory or other authoritative basis for the claim.

The leaders argued that assertions concerning the constitutional status and responsibilities of elected lawmakers should be supported

verifiable evidence.

They said the relevant constitutional provision or authoritative reference should be produced if the claim was to be sustained.

42 Transformers: APM Demands Handover Records

The communique also questioned Oseni’s reported claim concerning the distribution of 42 transformers.

The APM leaders demanded copies of handover documents, installation records, photographs and videos of the installations, as well as a list of beneficiary communities.

They said the locations of the transformers should be made public to enable residents and community leaders to verify their delivery and installation.

Healthcare Projects Under Scrutiny

The leaders also demanded evidence concerning healthcare projects reportedly attributed to the lawmaker.

They asked Oseni to provide the locations and supporting documents for the four health centres he reportedly said he constructed before his election, as well as the two specialist hospitals he reportedly said were constructed or were ongoing after his election.

The APM leaders said the information should include the locations, commencement dates, present status, contractors or implementing agencies and relevant government documentation.

Farm Inputs, Chemicals and Sprayers

The leaders further demanded evidence concerning the reported distribution of fertiliser, agrochemicals and farm equipment.

They requested beneficiary records, distribution locations, photographs, videos and handover documents relating to the interventions.

They also demanded evidence supporting the reported distribution of 7,000 chemicals and sprayers, including the quantities distributed, beneficiaries and locations.

The APM leaders said beneficiaries should be identifiable and available for verification, while the documentation should indicate the communities covered and the quantity of items distributed.

APM Demands Evidence of Borehole Projects

The leaders similarly requested details of borehole projects reportedly facilitated

Oseni.

They asked for the names of beneficiary communities, project locations, dates of installation, photographs and relevant project documents to enable residents to physically verify the projects.

‘He Who Asserts Must Prove’

The APM leaders said their demands were not intended to substitute political debate with rhetoric but to place specific claims before the public for independent verification.

They stressed that political office holders seeking elective positions should be prepared to provide details of projects and interventions attributed to them, particularly where such claims form part of their campaign record.

The leaders said the requested evidence should be made available to the public within 24 hours, maintaining that project locations, photographs, videos, approvals and beneficiary records would allow residents to independently assess the claims.

They further said the principle that “he who asserts must prove” should guide public discourse concerning projects and achievements attributed to political office holders.

Political leaders reportedly present at the meeting included the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin; APM candidate for Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Dr. Adebayo Adepoju; APM candidate for Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency, Engr. Kolawole Sheu Adedeji; Executive Chairman of Ibarapa Central Local Government, Hon. Sola Adeleke; Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke; and former Oyo State Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Majekodunmi Aborode, among other party leaders and stakeholders.
