The Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) presidential candidate and Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has promised to establish a four-year Transitional Government of National Unity (TGNU) if elected President of Nigeria in 2027.
Makinde said the proposed government would promote inclusive governance and equitable development across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, with particular attention to security, infrastructure and economic growth.
He made the declaration on Saturday during a town hall meeting in Yola, Adamawa State, where the party presented its programmes under the Reset Agenda.
The governor expressed concern over Nigeria’s worsening security challenges, rising poverty, high petroleum prices and unstable electricity supply, promising to address the challenges if elected President in May 2027.
He assured Nigerians, particularly those in the North-East, that his administration would prioritise transparency, accountability and responsible leadership, in contrast to what he described as the alleged false promises and deceptive political practices of the current administration.
According to Makinde, the North and other parts of the country have suffered significantly under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, adding that the APM’s Reset Agenda would introduce policies aimed at reversing the trend.
The APM presidential candidate also criticised the Federal Government’s performance in the electricity sector, noting that the current administration had failed to fulfil its promise of providing stable electricity within four years.
He maintained that the party’s manifesto and policy blueprint were designed to reset the country through practical solutions to Nigeria’s economic and developmental challenges.
Makinde further expressed concerns over the implementation of the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) initiative, arguing that the programme, as implemented
the current administration, had created additional difficulties for Nigerians and contributed to the return of long queues at filling stations.
He described what he called the insincerity, alleged deception and unfulfilled promises of the Tinubu administration as unacceptable, insisting that Nigerians deserved a government committed to delivering measurable results.
The governor assured residents of the North-East that an APM-led federal government would introduce improved policies and programmes across critical sectors of the economy.
He specifically promised measures to moderate petroleum prices, improve electricity supply and strengthen CNG programmes to reduce transportation costs and ease the economic hardship facing Nigerians.
Makinde also expressed appreciation to the government and people of Adamawa State for their warm reception and support during his visit, expressing optimism about the party’s prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He reiterated that the APM’s Reset Agenda would focus on national unity, inclusive governance, economic recovery and sustainable development, with the aim of improving the living conditions of Nigerians across all regions.
