Since assuming the responsibility of leading the Odidiomo Campaign Organization, I have had the opportunity to work closely with Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi Olajide, popularly known as Odidiomo.

That experience has given me a deeper understanding of the politician behind the name and, more importantly, the ideas and convictions driving his aspiration to represent Oyo South Senatorial District in the Senate.

I have seen a politician who places strong emphasis on achievement, visible impact and direct engagement with the people. This experience has strengthened my conviction that the Odidiomo name is increasingly associated with a simple proposition: that political representation should ultimately be measured

what it delivers to the people.

What stands out particularly is the clarity with which Odidiomo approaches public service. For him, politics goes beyond occupying an office; it is about using public office to create opportunities, address challenges and leave behind a record that can be examined

the people.

His legislative focus has included information and communication technology, digital transformation, youth empowerment, education and human capital development. As Chairman of the House Committee on ICT and Cybersecurity, he has continued to place technology at the centre of his legislative identity.

This orientation has also been reflected in constituency interventions and empowerment programmes, including a digital training initiative reported to have reached 200 youths and women.

It is this combination of legislative engagement, technology-driven initiatives and grassroots interventions that, in my view, gives substance to the political identity Odidiomo is taking into the wider Oyo South Senatorial District.

A Broader Agenda for Oyo South

In recent engagements, Odidiomo unveiled what he described as a “Social Pact”, covering education and skills development, agriculture, healthcare, technology, employment and infrastructure.

Among the proposals are the establishment of an ICT hub in each of the nine local government areas in Oyo South, an agriculture empowerment and value-chain programme for Ibarapa, a proposed Federal Medical Centre for Oyo South and the “Light Up Oyo South” initiative.

Under the proposed lighting programme, Odidiomo has pledged 100 streetlight poles in each of the district’s 99 wards, amounting to 9,900 poles.

These are ambitious proposals. Their success would require more than campaign declarations; they would require legislative advocacy, partnerships, sustained engagement and the capacity to follow through.

That is why I see the present political movement not simply as another electoral contest, but as a conversation about how experience accumulated in public office can be expanded into a sustainable programme of representation for the people of Oyo South.

Odidiomo has placed his experience and proposed agenda before the people of the district. The people can examine the work already done, consider the plans being proposed and make their own judgment about the kind of representation they want for Oyo South Senatorial District.
